WRITING AND MYSTERY EVENTS Bouchercon 2007 - The biggest crime fiction convention there is, this time in Anchorage, Alaska. and featuring Alexander McCall Smith, Ann Rule, Jayne Ann Krentz, James Sallis and Barbara Peters. Come on up! Reading in The Rain: Left Coast Crime 2007- Convention in Seattle February 1-4, 2007 If you're coming to LCC, don't forget to RSVP for the MWA Northwest Seattle Underground Tour and After-Party! WHERE: Doc Maynard's in Pioneer Square is the beginning and end point. WHEN: Friday, February 2, 2007 from 8:30 PM till ???? COST: Free for MWA Members; $10 per person for non-members (spouses, non-MWA member attendees of LCC, etc.) Come join the guides of the Seattle Underground Tour for a special event geared specifically for the adult mystery-loving community! Take a walk through history's door and see what Seattle was like circa 1889, right before the Great Fire that destroyed a frontier northwest town and left the foundations of our modern metropolis. Find out about the type of graft that built the first "Skid Row," and about what crime in late 19th century Seattle was like! The tour begins and ends in the historic Doc Maynard's tavern in Pioneer Square (just blocks from the event hotel), an 1890s landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, with a bar that was brought around the Horn from Boston over 100 years ago. After the tour, stay for the after-party, hosted by your local chapter of Mystery Writers of America. Beer and wine will be provided to all tour participants free of charge (for mixed drinks, you're on your own). MWA members from any and all chapters are allowed on the tour for free, all LCC participants are welcome (as are spouses, significant others, etc.). Cost for non-MWA members is just $10. MWA Christmas Party! The Mystery Writers of America Northwest Chapter Board of Directors proudly invites you to attend our first annual chapter holiday dinner party. Here are the details: Where: F.X. McCrory's 419 Occidental Avenue South Seattle, WA 98104 When: Friday, December 8, 2006, beginning at 7:30 PM What: Dinner and drinks. Wine provided by the chapter, so if you'd like a mixed drink or beer, you're on your own for that. Dinner is from the menu. We will also have several mystery-themed door prizes awarded throughout the evening. Dress: Semi-formal to formal. Put on your nicest duds and/or that holiday sweater you wish you could get away with wearing more often throughout the year and join us for a great time. Who: you and a guest!
